First year:
- first year students have to attend the classes
as indicated by the PhD Council, along with the advanced
seminar "Topics in Mathematics I" and the Colloquia of the
PhD School;
- they have to write the solution of the exercises given in the courses, and the ones
assigned by the PhD Council (they are due by November of the first
year);
- in November, first year students have to prepare the annual
report on their activities and give a short oral presentation
(in English) about their plan of research;
- within the February of their second year
they have to choose a thesis advisor and a thesis-problem.
Second year:
- second year students have to attend the advanced
seminar "Topics in Mathematics II" along with the Colloquia of the
PhD School;
- in November, second year students have to prepare the annual
report on their activities and give a short oral presentation
(in English) about their ongoing reserch.
Third year:
- third year students have to attend the Colloquia of the
PhD School;
- in November, third year students have to prepare the annual
report on their activities and give a short oral presentation
(in English) on their ongoing research;
- in the subsequent February, they have to give a presentation of their PhD thesis in front of the PhD
Council, and have to have prepared a summary of their work (sunto), to be sent to the Editors of the Italian Mathematical Union (U.M.I.)

All PhD students are encouraged to attend the various seminars of the Departement.
